  1. Could be shaving your head. My niece just had it done. I can’t remember the name or logic behind it but she is like 3 months old. Seemed like a big deal for the whole family. Like a baptism except not a baptism.

  2. If it was your 1 month birthday it could be the hair cutting ceremony depending on what religion or ethnic background your family is. The gold chains around the mother’s neck makes me think this could be it.

    But, it also just could be the family celebrating the birth of the baby and having a typical family gathering. It appears that there was a wound on the baby’s cheek and the old woman is dressing it.

  3. If grandma is holding a string, it could be a basi/sou khuan ceremony where strings are tied around the wrist and prayers said to wish well upon the person. It’s done in Laos and Issan. I’m not sure if it’s practiced in the same way in other parts of Thailand.
